Ecolab, the global leader in water, hygiene and energy technologies and services, has been named to Forbes’ 2018 list of The World’s 100 Most Innovative Companies, ranking 93rd. This is the fifth time Ecolab has been named to the World’s Most Innovative Companies list since its inception in 2011.
Ecolab's team of 1,600 scientists, engineers and technical specialists work within a global network of 19 technology centers and develop innovations to improve operational efficiency, safety, product quality and environmental impact for customers in more than 40 industries. In 2017, Ecolab invested more than $200 million in research and development, and the company’s 2017 innovation pipeline is forecasted to deliver more than $1.2 billion in total annual revenue in five years.
“Ecolab’s innovation strategy combines best-in-class chemistry, engineering expertise and digital technology with our industry-leading service to help our customers achieve their operational goals,” said Dr. Larry Berger, Ecolab executive vice president and chief technical officer. “We innovate with purpose, and our technologies provide quantifiable value to the specific challenges of our customers.”
Companies on the 2018 World’s Most Innovative Companies list are ranked by their innovation premium: the difference between their market capitalization and the net present value of cash flows from existing businesses. The difference between them is the bonus given by equity investors on the educated hunch that the company will continue to come up with profitable new growth.
